阿尔及利亚
Algeria is the largest country (by land area) in Africa. But only 12% of its land is inhabited because most of its population live along the Mediterranean. Its capital city is Algiers.
阿尔及利亚是非洲领土面积最大的国家。但只有12%的土地有人居住,因为大部分人口生活在地中海沿岸。它的首都是阿尔及尔。

North Africa. Algeria borders Tunisia to the northeast, Western Sahara, Mauritania and Mali to the southwest, Libya to the east, Morocco to the west, Niger to the southeast, and the Mediterranean Sea to the north.

Languages 语言
Official languages of Algeria are Arabic and Tamazight (Berber). French is also widely used in media and schools.

The national anthem of Algeria is Kassaman or Qassaman, which means "We pledge."

The national flag of Algeria features two equal vertical bands of green and white with a red, five-pointed star within a red crescent centered over the two-color boundary. Green represents nature, white represents peace, the red star and crescent represent the Islamic religion.

Agricultural products are wheat, vegetables, barley, oats, grapes, olives, citrus, dates, sheep, cattle, among them dates, olives and olive oil, wine and Clementine orange are quoted as the best in the world.

Algiers is found on the bay of the Mediterranean Sea, it is locally known as El-Djazaïr. The name Algiers translates to "The Island." It refers to the four islands which now form part of the city. The most interesting sights are in the old part of the city known as the Casbah (UNESCO World Heritage Site) or Medina. Places such as Monument of Martyrs, La Grande Poste, Aquafortland, Ketchaoua Mosque, El Djedid Mosque, and El Kebir Mosque are the most visited sites in Algiers.

Oran is the closest point of Algeria to Spain, it has the country's second largest port. It is also the major education and commercial center. In this city you can find Universities, museums, art centers, open air theater, and historic city centers.

The city's Hippo Regius ruins which include mosaics, bronze trophies and ruins of villas and temples is one of the best.

Algeria is famed for its charming cities with stunning architecture, Mediterranean coast, beautiful landscapes, and Roman ruins. The Saharan region is the main attraction in the country.

Under the name of Cuicul, the city was built during the first century A.D. as a military garrison situated on a narrow triangular plateau. The city was initially populated by a colony of soldiers and eventually grew to become a large trading market. The resources that contributed to the prosperity of the city were essentially agricultural (cereals, olive trees and farm).

Timgad was a Roman colonial town in Algeriafounded in 100 AD. In the 5th Century, the city was sacked by the Vandals andtwo centuries later by the Berbers. The city disappeared from history, becoming one of the lost cities of the Roman Empire, until its excavationin 1881.
